The Chairperson of the Seychelles Human Rights Commission, Judge Bernardin Renaud, presented the Commission’s Annual Report for 2024 to President Wavel Ramkalawan during a courtesy call at State House on Monday, 31st March 2025.
The presentation of the report is in accordance with Section 22 of the Seychelles Human Rights Commission Act, 2018. The document provides a comprehensive review of the Commission’s activities over the past year, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations aimed at strengthening human rights promotion and protection in Seychelles. It also outlines the Commission’s engagement with stakeholders and the public, as well as efforts to address human rights concerns across various sectors.
During the meeting, Judge Renaud briefed President Ramkalawan on significant findings from the report, including progress made in upholding human rights standards, ongoing initiatives, and areas requiring further attention. Discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration between the Commission and government institutions to reinforce Seychelles’ commitment to human rights and good governance.
President Ramkalawan welcomed the report and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering a culture of human rights, justice, and equality for all Seychellois. He commended the Commission for its continued efforts in advocating for human rights and encouraged further dialogue and cooperation to address emerging challenges.
The presentation of the Annual Report forms part of the Commission’s statutory obligation to keep the government and the public informed on the state of human rights in Seychelles. The report will be made available online in due course.
