President Ramkalawan visits key locations Les Mamelles District President Wavel Ramkalawan paid a visit to key locations in the Les Mamelles district yesterday afternoon.

He was accompanied on his visit by the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Ms Rose-Marie Hoareau, the Minister for Lands and Housing, Mr Billy Rangasamy, the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly and Member of the National Assembly for Les Mamelles district, Hon Bernard George, District Authorities as well as representatives of various government agencies.

At the Lower Plaisance area, the visit was primarily to view certain flood prone areas. In the presence of all the relevant technicians problems were identified and corrective actions proposed. Locations visited included the Plaisance Ste Therese River, Les Mamelles – Mohan Shopping Center Area, Camille Family, Mancienne, and Payet Family up to Les Mamelles DA’s Office.

In Les Mamelles, the President also viewed various locations both at Lower and upper Les Mamelles area. This included houses, roads, proposed site for new boundary walls, playground and playing field.

He also had the opportunity to meet some members of various households, whose houses have recently been renovated whilst identifying those requiring additional repairs and renovations.

Following the visit, the core ministries involved along with the team of technicians will review recommendations made on site and devise a plan of action with appropriate timelines for the implementation of decisions taken.
