Following the debate in the National Assembly for the Office of the President on the budget line for the First Lady, in the spirit of transparency and accountability, in order to clarify the matter and avoid any misinterpretation of the allocated sum, the Office of the President wishes to state the following:

1. The sum allocated is specifically for local travel, accommodation, hospitality for formal events, gifts and donations.

2. There is no salary included in the budget provisions made for the First Lady. 

3. The First Lady will continue to discharge her duties and responsibilities on a voluntary basis without any salary.
