President Wavel Ramkalawan and the First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalawan received the Bishop of Mauritius, Bishop Stenio Andre, and the General Secretary - Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA), Venerable Joseph Kofi William Graft-Johnson for a courtesy call at State House this morning. They were accompanied by Archdeacon Ft. Danny Elizabeth and Reverend Christine Benoit from the Anglican Diocese of Seychelles.
Venerable Graft-Johnson and Bishop Andre are in the country to participate in the celebration of the golden jubilee of the Anglican Diocese of Seychelles, which falls on March 25th March and the anniversary of the creation of the Province of the Indian Ocean on 27th March which includes Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar whereby a series of activities were being organised to commemorate the occasions.
The President welcomed them to the State House and thanked their presence in joining Seychelles Anglican community in celebrating the Seychelles Anglican Diocese’s 50th Anniversary.
Their discussions centered on the Anglican faith in Seychelles, its challenges, and how the Diocese can further collaborate with the Government of Seychelles for the goodwill of the community.
