Following the achievements of Team Seychelles at the 12th Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l'Océan Indien (CJSOI) Games held between 04th to 11th December in Mauritius, an Appreciation and Recognition ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) lobby in their honour.
The highlight of the ceremony was the handing over of the CJSOI flag to the President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan by the Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr Ralph Jean-Louis. The Republic of Seychelles now has the task to host the next CJSOI games in 2025.
During his address, the President once again congratulated the athletes and hailed their remarkable performances in each of their disciplines. President Ramkalawan urged them to remain focused and aim for better results and improve their performance.
On her part, the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family, Mrs. Marie-Céline Zialor commended the 200 athletes, coaches, officials, and other members who were at the games for their unwavering efforts and despite the various challenges have managed to surmount to attain the excellent results.
The ceremony was also marked by testimonies from the athletes and a review of the CJSOI 2022 game as well as a presentation of certificates for their participation in the game. It is to be noted that it is the first time,
Seychelles came out third on the medal table with 45 medals, 12 gold, 12 silver, and 21 bronze. Top of the table was Reunion with 142 medals, 57 gold, 56 silver, and 29 bronze.
