The new Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mrs. Monica-Cecilia Sitaru, presented her letters of accreditation to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan during an accreditation ceremony held at State House this morning. Ambassador Sitaru is the second Romanian Ambassador to be accredited to Seychelles.
President Ramkalawan congratulated Ambassador Sitaru on her appointment and expressed his hope that during her tenure in office collaboration between Seychelles and Romania will be enhanced, and move to greater heights.
During discussions, domains of cooperation such as in Education, the Blue Economy, peace and security as well as the continued cooperation in maritime security through the EU NAVFOR operation.
Also present for the ceremony this morning was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Department, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, the Director General of Bilateral Affairs Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lindy Ernesta, and Second Secretary/Desk Officer for Romania, Ryan Adeline.
Ambassador Sitaru will be based in Pretoria, South Africa. Diplomatic relations between Seychelles and Romania were established on 30 July 1976.
