The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan received the Chief of Mission for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr. Calixte Ahokpossi, at State House, this morning. Mr Ahokpossi, and his delegation are in Seychelles to evaluate the current status of the economy and review progress so far of the implementation of the IMF programme in place.
President Ramkalawan welcomed Mr. Ahokpossi and his delegation to Seychelles and expressed his gratitude for the support given by the IMF throughout the programme and reiterated the Government’s continued commitment to ensure fiscal sustainability and macroeconomic stability.
“I wish you the very best and success for the meetings planned ahead. I am looking forward to reading the report and any advice on how best to move the country forward will be well received. Seychelles is seeking ways to continue improving and we should forge ahead in partnering with the IMF in that direction,” said the President.
During the meeting, the President was brief of the IMF Mission and the various discussion on the agenda. Mr. Ahokpossi commended the President and his government for the very good relationship and the willingness of the authorities to work in partnership, which has enabled the IMF programme to progress well.
Also present for the courtesy call at State House was the Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade, Mr Naadir Hassan and the Governor of the Central Bank, Miss Caroline Abel.
