The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan received the Deputy General Commissioner of the Seychelles pavilion, Mr. Galen Bresson, and the Director for Seychelles pavilion, Mrs. Maria Azemia, at State House. This follows the gold award Seychelles received at the Dubai Expo 2020 for Best Sustainable District Interior Design.
They were accompanied by the Secretary-General for Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, Mr. David Andre, and Principal Secretary for the Department of Culture, Cecile Kalebi.
President Ramkalawan praised the team for their hard work which has resulted in Seychelles winning this award.
“I believe that the EXPO was great exposure for you all that participated. You have indeed made Seychelles proud of such achievement. Indeed the work does not stop here, we now need to see how we can continue to make the world know what Seychelles is all about, its culture and heritage, and to continue to push forward the many agendas that we as a country can continue to advocate; sustainability, the blue economy, tourism, the green economy among others,” said the President.
The meeting was an opportunity for Mr. Bresson and Mrs. Azemia to share their experiences, achievements in marketing Seychelles, how they were assessed by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE),as well as the forward now that the country intends to participate in the next EXPO, which will be held in Osaka, Japan in 2025.
For the time being the gold award trophy will remain at the State House where dignitaries will get the chance to see such an achievement.
