President Wavel Ramkalawan met with representatives of the Seychelles National Choir committee yesterday at State House.
Present for the meeting included Mrs. Xiaoju Lownam, Mr. Terence Gomme, Dr. Bernard Monnaie, Mr. Julien Alexis, and Mr. Thomas Anderson,
The choir was established in 1999 under the direction of Mrs. Lownam and is comprised of 35 active members. Their vision is to have a positive impact on the people of Seychelles, as well as to mirror Seychelles ‘joie de vivre’ internationally through joy of singing.
Their encounter with the Head of State was an opportunity for the members to share their plans, achievements and bring to his attention pertinent issues that are affecting the choir to perform properly, the recognition as a choir, and the stability.
The President encouraged them to continue performing as they also play an important role in Seychelles’ culture. He underlined that the Seychelles National Choir needs to be given the recognition they deserve, clarity, and all the support.
All points raised have been duly noted by President Ramkalawan for further consideration with follow up actions to be taken where necessary.
