President Wavel Ramkalawan led a delegation technicians for an exploratory visit at the Ile Soleil construction site being undertaken by 2020 Development (Seychelles) Ltd, yesterday afternoon.
The purpose of the visit was to view first-hand and discuss on site some of the pertinent issues that has been brought to the attention of Government. With some of the relevant authorities and technicians present to provide their inputs, the delegation toured key locations and infrastructure sites on Ile Soleil.
With the indication that there are certain anomalies and ambiguities, the President has given instruction to put a halt on all works currently being undertaken so that a thorough assessment can be done on the entire project.
Also present for joint visit was Vice-President, Mr Ahmed Afif, the Minister for Industry and Investment, Mrs. Devika Vidot as well as representatives of 2020 Development, Lands Department, Planning Authority, Infrastructure Department, Environment and other key stakeholders linked to the project.
Discussions will remain ongoing with all the relevant parties in order to gather more information and to ensure any decision taken for the way forward is in the best interest of the country and its people.
