President Wavel Ramkalawan was formally presented a copy of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Annual Report presented by the Director of FIU Mr Richard Rampal this morning at State House.

During the meeting, the President commended the FIU management and team for their hard work and reaffirmed the Government’s full support to FIU in continuing to seek ways to combat money laundering and financial crimes within the Seychelles’ jurisdiction. 

The meeting was also an opportunity for Mr Rampal to brief the Head of State on the activities and the way forward for FIU particularly due to adapted modality of operation during the covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Mr Rampal said the report represents the progress and activities that the FIU has been engaged in for the year 2020 and that despite challenges caused by the global covid-19 pandemic says along with his dedicated team have remained steadfast in fulfilling their mandate to the best of their abilities.
