The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Director for Africa, Mrs Elsia Grandcourt, paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House this morning. Also present was the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde.
The President welcomed Mrs Grandcourt and commended her for making Seychelles proud for holding a high-level position in an international organisation. He expressed his wish that she continues to advocate for tourism in Africa and in achieving a healthy growth in the Tourism industry on the African continent.
During the meeting, Mrs Grandcourt conveyed the personal greetings and further congratulatory message of the Secretary General UNWTO; Mr Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili to President Ramkalawan, after being elected as the new President and extended an invitation for the President to visit their headquarters in Madrid, Spain. It was also an opportunity for Mrs Grandcourt to brief the President on her responsibilities, challenges and the status of the tourism sector in Seychelles as well as in the African region.
The former CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, was appointed United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Director for Africa in August 2013 whereby she has 51 countries under her responsibility.
