The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan received Mr Lucas Georges at State House yesterday following his nomination on the international cycling governing body’s management committee.
Mr Georges was elected as the candidate of Africa at the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) management committee during the Confédération Africaine de Cyclisme (CAC) elective congress, held recently in Cairo, Egypt.
President Ramkawalan hailed the success of Mr Georges and commended him for his dedication throughout the years in his job and to cycling.
“You have always been involved at international level representing your country. With the competence that you have acquired over the years, today you have been able to put Seychelles’ name on top. Keep up the good work and continue to make your country shine,” remarked the President.
During the meeting, the former cyclist, who is also the Seychelles Cycling Federation chairman shared with the President his challenges as well as achievements.
Mr Lucas Georges is expected to attend the next congress to be held in Belgium in September this year.
