President Wavel Ramkalawan has sent messages of congratulations to swimmer Felicity Passon and long distance runner Mr Joel Melanie for their major accomplishments today.

Felicity, who is also the reigning Sportswoman of the year, undertook her 'Mind over Matter challenge' this morning by swimming 15km from La Digue to Praslin and back. Her quest was to raise funds for the launch of a mental health project.

The President, who personally called Felicity yesterday before the race to wish her strength and courage, spoke to her again today after her amazing performance.

President Ramkalawan also congratulated long distance marathon runner, Mr Joel Melanie upon successfully completing his first 21km challenge on La Digue also for a good cause.

"The whole of Seychelles is immensely proud of your achievements. Both Felicity and Joel have demonstrated that there is no age limit to the good one can achieve and that through perseverance, hard work and courage, anything is possible. Thank you for being exemplary athletes and an inspiration to our nation. This is what the Seychellois spirit should all be about.” said President Ramkalawan.
