President Wavel Ramkalawan welcomed a delegation from the Seychelles Deaf Association at State House yesterday. Lead by the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs Anita Gardner the meeting centered on the various issues affecting members of the Deaf Community in Seychelles.
During discussions with the Head of State, the delegation highlighted specific projects and pertinent matters requiring Government’s support, primarily in relation to the newly opened Deaf Centre now located at Mont Fleuri.
President Ramkalawan reassured the delegation of the Government’s commitment and reiterated his full support to the Deaf Association in ensuring matters raised is addressed immediately. The President will also be conducting a visiting at new location soon, for a first hand-view of the operation of the centre and for on-site needs assessment.
President Ramkalawan was also privileged to be presented a copy of the first edition of Seychellois Sign Language Dictionary produced by the Deaf Association.
Also present for the meeting at State House were members of the Deaf Shana David, Medgee Morgan and Calvin Morel.
