The President of the Republic, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan met the owner of Euro African Star Transport (EAST) Services; Dr Carol Nalletamby at State House yesterday afternoon. This follows the launching of the EAST Services here in Seychelles to transport cargo to and from the country as of the 08 March 2021. Dr Nallemtamby was accompanied by the Operations Manager for EAST Cargo, Mr Vincent Belize

“Congratulations on the setting up of the EAST Cargo services in the Seychelles. I extremely proud to see our Seychellois owned businesses making new breakthroughs and supporting the country’s economy. Thank you for your determination and on behalf of Government I wish you the very best for future,” said President Ramkalawan.
During the meeting Dr Nalletamby shared with the President some of the services that EAST will be offering which will also include the exportation of fish as well as other products that local businesses wishing to extend their market overseas.
During an interview with the local press after the meeting, Dr Nalletamby confirmed that the first flight; Turkish Airline, an Airbus A330 freighter, will land in Seychelles this Saturday morning with 24 tons of cargo which will include various commodities. She further explained that the aircraft will be conducting a six-week trial period on a weekly basis to ascertain its suitability for the cargo requirements and exports from Seychelles, after which the company will further consider appropriate aircraft size for long-term period.
Dr Nalletamby and Mr Belize encourages all Seychellois who wishes to export cargos either to Europe, Asia and other parts of the world to seek their services, which in return will be an advantage to the Seychelles’ economy.
Dr Nalletmaby is also a shareholder of the Seychelles International Airways (SIA), whereby she confirmed that the plane for SIA is ready but in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are waiting for things to settle before they launch the airline.
