Following the Presidential and Legislative Elections held in Seychelles in October 2020, the President of the Republic, H.E Wavel Ramkalawan received the Electoral Report this morning at State House.
The report was submitted in accordance with Article 116 (2) of the Constitution, by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mr Danny Lucas and the Chief Electoral Officer, Mrs Manuella Amesbury.
During the meeting, the President congratulated the electoral commission and the staff for the extraordinary work they did during the election period.
“Though certain challenges, you have handled the elections very well and I want to congratulate you and your staff. This was evident as the people of Seychelles showed more confidence that things were being done fairly. I know that the experience you have all gathered will certainly be an asset for future elections. Due to your remarkable work and the peaceful transition that followed, Seychelles is highly ranked in the region,” said President Ramkalawan.
The Head of State noted that the recommendations of the Commission will be carefully studied by his Administration and that serious consideration would be given to its contents and recommendations in order to strengthen the Electoral Commission of Seychelles as the body that organise, oversee and regulate political elections in Seychelles.
A copy of the report was also submitted to the National Assembly.
