Port Louis, Mauritius: On the second day of his State Visit in Mauritius, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan held talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius H.E Pravind Kumar Jugnauth on Monday.
This State Visit demarks a new era for Seychelles-Mauritius relations, with shared vulnerabilities and common objectives, the two countries are more than ever committed towards the deepening of their diplomatic ties.
Following the tête-à-tête with the Prime Minister, President Ramkalawan joined the rest of the delegation for a working session held at the Receptorium of the National Assembly followed by the signing of two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The first MoU was on Cooperation in the field of Security and Crime Combatting signed by the Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde and the Mauritian Commissioner of Police. The Second MoU refers to Cooperation on Information, Communication and Technology signed by Minister Radegonde and the Hon. Minister of Information, Technology, Communication and Innovation.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by both President Ramkalawan and Prime Minister Jugnauth, signifying the symbolic seal of the renewed partnership between the two sister nations. President Ramkalawan placed emphasis on the importance of not only signing the instruments but on the need for both countries to be commitment to ensuring the decisions and agreements are translated into action for the benefit of both peoples.
“We bear witness to the beginning of a renewed partnership between our countries, a partnership I am confident in its reinforcement and success. In echoing my appreciation for this memorable visit and in looking forward to a closer working relationship, please allow me to wish your beloved country and people great success and prosperity" said President Ramkalawan.
Delivering his Statement to the press, Prime Minister Jugnauth also pledged his commitment in ensuring all actions are executed and that the bonds between Mauritius and Seychelles is further strengthened.
"The State Visit of President Ramkalawan is testimony to the strong bonds that exist between Mauritius and Seychelles. Our two countries not only share a vast ocean but we also have vibrant people-to-people ties resulting from common history, language, and culture. More importantly, we have the same vision for the prosperity of the Indian Ocean.
President Ramkalawan and I have both expressed our readiness to work closely to advance issues of mutual interest" said Prime Minister Jugnauth
The President of Mauritius President of the Republic of Mauritius , H.E Prithvirajsing Roopun G.C.S.K also hosted the Seychelles Presidential delegation for a State Lunch at State House Le Reduit. Whilst Prime Minister Jugnauth hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the Seychellois guests.
