President Wavel Ramkalawan today chaired a meeting of the Leaders’ Forum which comprises of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, as well as President himself and the Vice-President.

The Forum discussed issues pertaining to the working procedures to be established between the Executive and the Legislative branches of Government as well as other matters related to the working calendar of National Assembly for the remainder of 2020 and the start of 2021.  This included the setting of the date for the presentation of Budget 2021. The Forum also considered the Legislative Calendar for November/December 2020. 

The legislation included certain amendments to the Civil Confiscation of the Proceeds of Crime Bill, the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, the Central Bank (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, amendments to the Immovable Property Tax, the Business Tax (Amendment) Bill and the Foreign Exchange (Amendment) Bill.

The Attorney General, the Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Institutional Affairs and the Chief Press Secretary were also in attendance at today’s Forum meeting.
