Residents of 'Dan Kafe' Estate in Anse Etoile receive keys to their new homes

President Danny Faure witnessed the handing over of 24 housing units to families in the Anse Etoile district under the 24-24 flagship housing project this afternoon, in a short ceremony held in accordance with public health guidelines.

The Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, Mrs Pamela Charlette, shared some opening remarks before the keys were handed over to the new residents. Ms Jeline Bamboche shared the vote of thanks on behalf of the new home owners before President Faure and Minister Charlette had the honour of unveiling the commemorative plaque.

Construction of the 'Dan Kafe' Housing Estate started in October 2018 by the Fuiri Construction company. The 24 units comprise of 8 two-bedroom and 16 three-bedroom units. The project encountered several challenges due to large boulders at the site and delays associated with availability of roofing materials, in addition to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project was completed in the first week of July 2020 amounting to a total cost of 32 million rupees (SCR 32,568,736.28).

Residents benefiting with a unit from the estate are from the priority list accumulated under the housing point system from the Anse Etoile district.
