President Danny Faure has today assented to the Notaries (Amendment) Act 2020, and the Suspension of Prescription and Time Limitation Period (Temporary Provisions) Act 2020, both of which were approved by the National Assembly on 6th May 2020.
The amendment to the Notaries Act extends from 3 days to 31 days the period for which a Notary may be absent from the Republic without the permission of the President.
The Suspension of Prescription and Time Limitation Period (Temporary Provisions) Act provides for a variation to legal deadlines that had been set by adjudicating authorities, and which deadlines could not have been honoured in view of the restrictions imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
