President Danny Faure chaired the first meeting with key representatives appointed on the new High Level Committee for Food Security Surveillance at State House this afternoon.
The main objective of the committee is to ensure the country’s food security, assessing ongoing needs and advising government of measures to effectively manage food supplies and essential commodities in this time of crisis.
The meeting was also an opportunity for all members to brief the Head of State on the current status of stock available for their respective sectors, discuss progress made so far following economic measures announced by the President on Friday, as well as collectively agree on the way forward for immediate actions required.
Members of the Committee include the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr Charles Bastienne, the Chief Executive Officer of STC, Mrs Christine Joubert, the Chief Executive of SEYPEC, Mr Conrad Benoiton, the Chairperson of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce, Mr Oliver Bastienne, the Chairperson of SFA, Mr Cyril Bonnelame, and the Chairperson of the Association of Farmers, Dr Barry Nourrice.
