President Danny Faure witnessed eighteen families on Praslin receive keys to their new home during the official opening ceremony of the second phase of the Karl Tamatave Estate held at Grand Anse, Praslin this afternoon.

Addressing the guests present, the Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport (MHILT), Mrs Pamela Charlette, highlighted the Government's housing efforts focused ensuring all citizens in need have the possibility of owning their own home. Wishing the best of luck to the 18 Karl Tamatave Estate Phase 2 residents today, she also emphasised that the mission of meeting the country's housing needs remains difficult and one that will require the support of all stakeholders to become a reality. 

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of keys to the new residents and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque for the housing project by President Faure and Minister Charlette in the presence the residents, members of the Grand Anse Praslin Community and other of high-level dignitaries.

The Karl Tamatave Estate Phase 2 has been implemented under the 24-24 housing project announced by President Danny Faure at the start of his mandate. It is located behind the Pension Complex building in the heart of Grand Anse Praslin. The project started on 6th September 2018 by the Qinjian International Groups Development Co. Ltd and comprises of 18 three-bedroom units, amounting to a total cost of 14.6 million Rupees. 

The project was completed on 9th of February 2020. Residents benefiting with a unit from this estate are from the priority list compiled under the housing poinst system from the Grand Anse Praslin district.

Whilst on Praslin this weekend, President Faure also took the opportunity to meet with members of the public on Praslin who had requested an appointment to meet with him.
