"Vilaz Lafous" Housing Estate at Anse Boileau officially opened

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, attended the official opening of the ‘Vilaz Lafous’ Housing Estate at Anse Boileau yesterday afternoon. The President was accompanied by the Minister for Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport, Mrs Pamela Charlette, and had the honour of unveiling the plaque to officially declare the estate open.

During the ceremony, 18 families registered in the Anse Boileau district were handed over the keys to their new house.  The Housing Estate is the second phase of the housing project with the total cost of the project amounting to 10.4 million Rupees.

The Estate was built by SAIFU Enterprise Company and comprises of 6 two-bedroom units and 12 three-bedroom units. Construction work for the ‘Vilaz Lafous’ Housing Estate started in 2017.

Residents benefiting with a unit from the estate are the prioritized list accumulated under the housing point system. The ministry is evaluating other sites to build another 6 units for Anse Boileau residents.

Speaking at the event, Minister Charlette stated that the Government is aware of the housing needs of Seychellois families and that it is increasing its effort to make more housing facilities available. She encouraged the residents and applicants to honour their housing payments and be patient.

In 2019, Government constructed 223 housing units, which have benefitted families in various districts to realise their dreams. Housing construction projects are ongoing.

The ceremony was also attended by the Minister for Family Affairs, Mrs Mitcy Larue, Member of the National Assembly for Anse Boileau district, Hon Philip Arrisol, Anse Boileau District Administrator, Mrs Valcy Naiken, staff from the Ministry of Habitat, Infrastructure and Land Transport and PMC and other distinguished guests.
