President Danny Faure has today directed the Minister of Finance, Trade, Investment & Economic Planning to make the necessary budgetary allocation for expenses relating to the functioning of the Department of Information Communication Technology (DICT) during 2020.
This directive was necessary because no amount had been appropriated for this purpose in the Appropriation Act 2020 passed by the National Assembly on 6th December 2019.
The directive is in line with Article 154 (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles.
The DICT’s central functions are vital to the support and operations of information systems and the information technology infrastructure throughout the Government. These are in addition to its regulatory functions in relation to telecommunications.
