President receives members of Saturn Band at State House

President Danny Faure received the Payet brothers, members of the popular band Saturn, at State House this morning.

President Faure welcomed the musicians to State House and conveyed his appreciation to them for their tremendous contributions to the music and entertainment industry, particularly the timeless classic, ‘Ozordi Lannen’, which this year marks 40 years since it was composed in 1979. 

“I would like to sincerely thank all of you for your contributions. Your music has touched so many lives and inspired a great deal of joy and celebrations. ‘Ozordi Lannen’ has for four decades been the anthem for New Year celebrations in Seychelles, and it will undoubtedly remain so for many generations to come,” said President Faure.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the band members to share their memories, retrace how the song came about as well as some of their aspirations and plans to promote their music internationally. Mr Georges Payet, the band leader, shared their aim to penetrate the global music industry and share their music with other countries around the world.

The song ‘Ozordi Lannen’ has been translated into 3 other languages which include English, French and Chinese. After the meeting, member of Saturn band performed their song live for the President in Creole, including excerpts of the song in other languages. 

Also present at State House this morning, was the Honorary Cultural Ambassador, Mr Patrick Victor.
