The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, attended the 14th Edition of the Annual Children's Nativity and Christmas Carols show organised by the Office of the President, held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles yesterday evening. The nativity play and carols were performed by Perseverance choir, Angel’s choir, Twinkle Little Stars, Seychelles Institute of Teacher’s Education (SITE) and International School Seychelles. 

The performance was directed by Mr Kurt Lagrenade (Drama) and Mr Bennett Accouche (Carols and Music). Mr Royston Cedras did the set building and décor.

The theme for this year’s show was ‘Traditional Christmas’, portraying the joy and unity of the Christmas tradition, in the context of local culture.

Also present was Vice-President Vincent Meriton, Designated Minister Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Francis MacGregor, the Chief Justice of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Mathilda Twomey, members of the Cabinet, members of National Assembly, families of the performers and other distinguished guests.

Following the event, President Faure hosted a dinner at State House for the children in care homes. A total of 80 children from President's Village, Foyer de la Solitude, Foyer de Nazareth, and Foyer de la Providence attended the dinner, which was followed by the presentation of Christmas gifts from the President and a special appearance from Santa Claus.

Invitees to the dinner at State House included the Vice-President Vincent Meriton, Minister for Family Affairs, Mrs Mitcy Larue, Principal Secretary for Social Affairs, Mrs Linda William-Mélanie, Chairperson of the Board of Children’s Special Fund, Mrs Noella Gontier, Seychelles Ambassador for Women and Children and the Chairperson of the National Council for Children (NCC), Dr Erna Athanasius, CEO of the NCC, Mr Jean-Claude Matombé, members of the organising team, sisters and staff from the homes, and other invited guests.
