Yokohama, Japan: For the final day of his participation at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) being held in Yokohama, Japan (TICAD 7), President Danny Faure yesterday afternoon attended the final plenary session and closing session of the 3-day conference.

The final plenary and closing session saw the adoption of the Yokohama Declaration 2019 and endorsement of the Yokohama Plan of Actions for 2019, which outlines the way forward and various actions for implementation. Delegates also heard presentations on summary of outcomes of discussions with overall reports on the thematic sessions held during the conference.

The Yokohama Declaration also endorsed the theme of TICAD 7, “Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology and Innovation” focused on further reinforcing the three pillars of TICAD 7 which include accelerating economic transformation and improving business environment through innovation and private sector engagement, deepening sustainable and resilient society and strengthening peace and stability.

The Yokohama Plan of Actions 2019 is an evolving document, which will be updated at anytime after TICAD 7 by each TICAD Member State and partner.

Through the participation of the Seychelles delegation at the various plenary and thematic sessions led by President Faure, Seychelles over the past three days managed to make key contributions on pertinent themes such as the Blue Economy, Maritime Security and Peace and Stability relevant both for Seychelles and the African continent.

In the evening, President Danny Faure also attended a reception hosted by the Emperor of Japan followed by attending the Third Hideyo Prize Presentation Ceremony and Commemorative Banquet held in Meji Kinenkan, Tokyo.
