The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Danny Faure, formally received the credentials of the new Ambassador for the Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Meles Alem Tika, during an accreditation ceremony held at State House this morning.
President Faure congratulated Ambassador Tika upon his accreditation as the new Ambassador of Ethiopia to Seychelles and expressed his wish that the bilateral ties established between Seychelles and Ethiopia since April 1982, remain focused on elevating engagements to new heights. “Your accreditation today is a testimony to the high level of commitment our countries attach to our engagement. In reiterating our sincere congratulations and in wishing you great success in your new tenure, rest assured, Seychelles is committed to further cementing the good friendship between our nations,” said President Faure
The Head of State and Ambassador discussed avenues to further consolidate cooperation in existing areas such as air connectivity, tourism and trade, and potential new areas of cooperation such as cargo shipping lines to facilitate transportation by sea and investment.
Ambassador Tika will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. He was accompanied to State House by Ethiopian Counsellor, Mr Zerubabel Tefera. Also present was the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy, Ambassador Barry Faure, the Principal Secretary for the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dr Marina Confait and other government officials.
Seychelles and Ethiopia established diplomatic relations on 14th April 1982.
