President Danny Faure received the president of the Ocean Alliance Conservation Members (OACM), Mr Kristijan Curavić, at State House this morning. Mr Curavić is on an official visit to Seychelles to discuss preparations for the first Plastic Ocean Summit to be held in Croatiain March next year.
The discussion between the Head of State and Mr Curavić centred on Seychelles as an official member of OACM, and the process of assessment to certify more of its beaches with ‘White Flags’, which determine the area as clean, plastic-free zones for inhabitants and marine life. The assessment conducted by Mr Curavić and his team will also cover ports and harbours.
Mr Curavić commended Seychelles on its conservation efforts and suggested how Seychelles can consolidate its efforts to become the top environmental tourism destination worldwide. To note, Seychelles was awarded its first White Flag certification at Beau Vallon beach in September last year.
Also present at the meeting this morning was the Minister of Finance, Trade, Investment and Economic Planning, Mr Maurice Loustau-Lalanne.
