President Danny Faure received the Chairman of the State Bank of Mauritius (SBM), Mr Kee Chong Li Kwong Wing, for a courtesy call at State House this morning.
Mr Li Kwong Wing is in Seychelles for the official opening of SBM Seychelles that was held yesterday. The bank is located at the Allied Plaza Building on Francis Rachel Street in Victoria. SBM Seychelles is a subsidiary of the Mauritian financial group SBM Holdings and is the second-largest bank in Mauritius with 45 years of existence. It has subsidiary businesses in Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar and India. SBM will be providing a broad range of products and services new to Seychelles including retail, personal and corporate banking.
The President welcomed Mr Li Kwong Wing to Seychelles and congratulated him and his team on the official opening of SBM Seychelles, an achievement that he said will not only benefit the bank but further contribute towards the development of the local banking sector and financial system, as well as the Seychelles economy in general.
The meeting was an opportunity to also share and discuss long-term plans and vision of SBM Seychelles in line with moving towards a more modernised banking as well as prospects and opportunities at regional and international level.
He was accompanied on his visit to State House by the Honorary Consul of Republic of Mauritius in Seychelles and SBM Consultant, Mr Francis Chang-Leng.
