President Faure meets executive committee of Seychelles Empowerment-Based Social Workers Association

President Danny Faure received members of the executive committee of the Seychelles Empowerment-Based Social Workers Association (SEBSWA) for a meeting at State House this afternoon.

The objective of the meeting was to formally present the association to the President and discuss ways by which the association can partner with and support Government to address social challenges, as well as share some of their expertise as experienced professionals in the field.

The President welcomed the members to State House and congratulated them for taking the initiative to form an association regrouping social workers. He also commended their willingness as trained Seychellois professionals to make a difference in their communities and support the country in tackling key social issues. “In view of the complexity of the types of social problems on the rise in our society nowadays, social work and psychology remains a priority focus for the country. I am pleased to see our trained Seychellois professionals ready to partner with government and explore working together for the benefit of our people,” said President Faure.

Other topics of discussion included a special project focused on juveniles,  capacity building for social workers, and other support mechanisms required to ensure better coordination between the association and government.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Chairperson of the Association, Mr Georges Nicette, said that the association is keen to engage with Government through their various projects, and urged other professionals in the field to join the association and work together for the benefit of the country.
