To commemorate International Children’s Day today 1 June, President Danny Faure visited the Baie Lazare crèche and primary school yesterday morning.
The President’s tour began at the Baie Lazare crèche, where he was welcomed by the Head Teacher, Ms Agnelle Monthy, the Chairperson of the School Council, Mr Danny Agathine, and the teacher in charge of the crèche, Ms Vanessa Labrosse.
Guided by Ms Labrosse, the President toured the Creche compound viewing some of the main indoor and outdoor facilities such as the multipurpose hall, play area and classrooms. President Faure also had the opportunity to visit Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms.
From the creche President Faure proceeded to the Baie Lazare Primary School where he visited the compound viewing the nursery, computer rooms, dinning room, tuckshop, learning centre, library and took some time to meet teachers and students in class.
Following the tour, the President chaired a meeting with the school management where they had the opportunity to share the schools' progress and academic performance, strategies and approaches being adopted to promote greater teaching and learning. Other topics discussed includes staffing issues, great integration technology in daily teaching and learning and way to enhance parental involvement.
To celebrate Children's Day, tomorrow 1st June a special assembly was held at the Primary School. Addressing the pupils present, the President urged they to remain focused in their studies at all times in order to make themselves, their families, their school, and their country proud. He expressed his appreciation to the management and teachers for their commitment towards ensure no child is left behind and that despite challenges continue to go the extra mile.
