Maputo, Mozambique: President Faure attended a banquet hosted by President Filipe Nyusi this evening, where both leaders took the opportunity to assure each other of continued support. Addressing invited guests present, President Faure proposed a toast to the people and the President of the Republic of Mozambique, during a state banquet held in honour of President Faure's first state visit to Mozambique.
“Seychelles and Mozambique are not only connected by a vast ocean, but by a rich history. Many of us in Seychelles are blessed with ancestral links to Mozambique. Over the years, we have rallied our efforts to reinforce the historical ties that binds us in our shared values and common ambitions. This year, we will celebrate the 36th anniversary since the establishment of official diplomatic ties. During these decades we have walked alongside each other as solid partners, speaking with one voice on issues that not only matter to us as African brothers, but to the global community.
Our bilateral engagements have elevated our collaboration to greater heights as we continue to develop ties in fisheries, maritime security, defence, culture, tourism and energy for the mutual benefits of our people," said President Faure.
During his speech the President Faure also commended Mozambique for its commitment towards the Blue Economy and for organization and hosting the 'Growing Blue: Sustainable and Shared Exploitation of the Oceans' Conference being held from 23rd-24th May 2019. “I am certain that this conference will provide a unique platform for frank dialogues, fruitful deliberations and the sharing of experiences and expertise on one of the most innovative concepts of our time,” added President Faure.
President Faure is the guest of honour for the Blue Economy Conference, being the Champion for the Blue Economy in Africa, where he will be delivering the Keynote address.
