President Danny Faure received the letter of credentials for the New High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E Mr Gobe Pitso, during an accreditation ceremony held this morning at State House.
President Faure described High Commissioner Pitso’s accreditation as a testimony to the high level of commitment both Seychelles and Botswana share toward enhancing bilateral engagement.
“Our two countries have over the years enjoyed a remarkable friendship and we are deeply appreciative of all the combined efforts to further strengthen this excellent partnership. I am certain that during your tenure, you will add greater impetus to our collaboration across various areas of mutual interest,” said President Faure.
During the meeting, President Faure and High Commissioner Pitso discussed existing areas of cooperation in fields such as education, as well as potential options to broaden the relations into new domains such as exchanges in tourism culture and good governance.
The High Commissioner Designate was accompanied during his visit to State House by the Counsellor Economic and Social from the High Commission of Botswana, Thandiwe Tsheko. Seychelles and Botswana established diplomatic relations on 30 September 1988.
