The President of the Republic visited various government institutions and agencies on La Digue this morning. The visit forms part of President Faure’s series of visits to key public institutions to engage in regular consultation and meet employees in their workplaces.
The visit started at La Passe where the President visited the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) office and had the opportunity to meet and discuss day to day operations with the staff.
Also at La Passe, President Faure visted the Seychelles Port Authority (SPA) where he was welcomed by the Pier Master. Following a brief tour of the office, the SPA Team had the opportunity to update the President on the current challenges they encounter and possible solutions to remedy the issues raised. As one of the departments with numerous long-serving staff, the President thanked them for their long years of dedication in ensuring one of the key organisations on the island operated effectively and delivered good services to the public.
The delegation then proceeded to the Department of Transport and the Road Commissioner’s Office, followed by a brief tour to the various artisanal kiosks located in the vicinity.
During his tour on La Digue, the President also visited the Seychelles Trading Company (STC) Wholesale branch. Upon arrival the President was able to witness their daily operations and also see the warehouse storage, building material section and offices.
The delegation visited various agencies located within the same compound of the District Administration Office, which included Seychelles Licensing Authority and the Seychelles Revenue Commission followed by the nearby Landscape and Waste Management Agency(LWMA) Office. During the brief tour, the staff of the agencies shared with the President their daily operations and highlighted some of the main challenges affecting their work.
To conclude the morning visits on La Digue, President Faure proceed to the Environment Department and National Park Authority where he met and held discussions with the staff on site. He also had the opportunity to visit the Verve Information Centre where he obtained a brief tour of the reserve and preparation being
done to revamp the centre.
In the afternoon, the President met with members of the public who had requested an appointment to see him by letter. This is his second visit this year to La Digue.
