President Danny Faure has today announced a number of changes in the Government establishment and appointments which will largely take effect from 1st February 2019.
Ambassador Barry Faure will now be the Secretary of State for both Foreign Affairs and The Blue Economy.
Dr Marina Confait will be appointed as the Principal Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Selby Pillay will be appointed as the Seychelles High Commissioner for India. He replaces Ambassador Phillipe Le Gall, who is retiring.
Ambassador Dick Esparon will be appointed as the Seychelles High Commissioner for Sri Lanka.
Ambassador Conrad Mederic will be the Ambassador for the other Indian Ocean countries, and will also be a Special Advisor in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Kenneth Racombo will be appointed as the Principal Secretary for the Department of The Blue Economy. Ms Rose-Marie Bargain who is currently holding the post will remain as Consultant in the Department.
Miss Angelique Antat will be the new Principal Secretary in the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. She replaces Mr Roger Toussaint who will be taking his retirement.
In the Ministry of Family Affairs, the President has created a new Department with responsibility for Poverty Alleviation, with Mr Alvin Laurence as Principal Secretary. The creation of this Department will enable the establishment of proper coordinating structures to address the important task of poverty alleviation.
Miss Penny Belmont will be the new Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles National Youth Council.
Mr Wilson Denis will be appointed to the post of Road Transport Commissioner, which has been vacant following the retirement of Mr Desire Payet.
The posts of Secretary of State for Poverty Alleviation, and Principal Secretary in the Office of the Designated Minister will be abolished.
With the exception of new ambassadorial appointments which require certain bilateral formalities, the above changes will take effect from 1st February, 2019.
