President Danny Faure, the Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles People's Defence Forces (SPDF), presented medals to service personnel who have served in the defence forces for 40 years and more. The ceremony was held at the SPDF Headquarters, Bel Eau, this morning.
Altogether, 13 Officers and 2 Warrant Officers have completed 40 years of active service. Within that group, 11 are still in service, whilst 4 have retired.
During the ceremony, the Chief of Defence Forces, Brigadier Leopold Payet, received the Supreme Distinguished Medal. Brigadier Payet has completed 41 years of active service, joining in 1977. The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Colonel Clifford Roseline, was presented with the Exceptional Distinguished Service Medal. Colonel Roseline has served for 40 years and joined the forces in 1978.
