Nairobi, Kenya: President Danny Faure met with the Minister of International Development of Norway, Mr Nikolai Astrup, in the margins of the Global Conference on Sustainable Blue Economy this week.
President Faure and Mr Astrup reviewed the existing strong bilateral relations between Seychelles and Norway, and explored new avenues for cooperation. The Norwegian Minister also discussed Norway’s development programme where USD 200 million has been set aside for the next four-year period to assist developing countries in combatting marine litter.
President Faure commended Norway for the initiative and the work that they are doing to promote clean and healthy oceans, and their support for Small Islands Developing States. The President assured Minister Astrup of Seychelles’ continued support.
Also present for the meeting was the Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Mr Charles Bastienne, Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Mr Wallace Cosgrow, and Honorary Consul of Kenya to Seychelles, Mr Jude Loveday.
