President Faure visits Fair Trading Commission

As part of his weekly visits to institutions, President Danny Faure visited the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) this morning. He was welcomed by the Chairperson of the Board, Mrs Karen Domingue, the CEO Mr Francis Lebon, and Deputy CEO, Ms Nathalie Edmond.

The President was given a tour of the Fair Trading Commission Offices at Unity House, Victoria. He visited the Legal Department Offices, the Consumer Services Department, Consumer Goods Department, Competition Department, Market Surveillance Department and the CEO’s Secretariat. Throughout his tour, President Faure had the chance to meet the staff at the offices and have discussions with them.

His visit concluded with a short meeting with the Chairperson and management team, who briefed the President on FTC’s activities and successes. The President was also made aware of their challenges, particularly in terms of technological constraints. President Faure thanked the management team and all staff for their hard work, and dedication to build the Commission into what it is today. The President outlined the inception and subsequent creation of FTC back in 2009, when he was the Minister for Finance, and expressed his pride at what the Commission has become. He encouraged the staff to continue building FTC as a strong institution that is integral to the fabric of society.

The Fair Trading Commission is an independent government body that was established under the Fair Trading Commission Act 2009. It aims to protect the interests of consumers, and promote competition and fair trade in Seychelles to benefit both consumers and businesses.
