Cabinet Business - Wednesday 24th October 2018

President Danny Faure chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet on wednesday morning, 24th October, at which a number of legal and policy memoranda were considered.

Cabinet approved the policy proposal for the drafting of a new Anti Money Laundering Bill. This policy proposal follows the National Risk Assessment conducted in 2016 and 2017 as well as the recommendations of the ESSAMLG Mutual Evaluation Report adopted in 2018 by the Council of Ministers meeting hosted in Seychelles.

Cabinet approved to make it mandatory for payments for asset acquisition to be made through the banking system for a wider range of assets.  This new requirement will be included as part of the review of the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Cabinet also endorsed actions relevant to six International Labour Organisation (ILO) recommendations concering employment.

Cabinet approved the Seychelles Decent Work Country Programme 2019 to 2023. This is the second programme aimed at building on emerging challenges and lessons learnt from the first programme’s implementation.

Cabinet approved for the hosting of two international meetings in Seychelles.  The 7th meeting of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network will be held in 2019 while the Commonwealth African Trade Negotiators Network meeting and the Commonwealth Consultation on Multilateral, Regional and Emerging Trade Issues for Africa meeting will be held in November 2018.

Cabinet also approved for Seychelles to embark on the World Health Organisation (WHO) supported process of elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV and syphilis.
