The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, received a group of retirees from the public service who have completed 25 years or more of continuous service at State House this morning.

The retirees are Mrs Elva Gedeon, Mr Maxime Tirant, Mr Andre Morel and Mrs Lauretta Port-Louis, who come from various sectors of Government.

During the meeting, the President extended his heartfelt thanks on behalf of Government and the people of Seychelles to the retirees for their long years dedicated to serving the people of Seychelles.

“It is not always easy to remain in one profession for so many years, but you have set an example for our young people. It is our hope that the youth joining the work industry adopt the same work culture and the need to have continuity and stability when joining a profession,” said President Faure.

Mrs Elva Gedeon has served for 48 years in public service. She started her career as a teacher and was later transferred to the Curriculum Development Section of the Ministry of Education, where she has been working until her retirement as a Senior Curriculum Development Officer.

Mr Maxime Tirant has clocked 45 years of service in the public sector. He joined the Police Force and was later promoted to the Superintendent of Prisons. He was most recently working as Advisor to the Superintendent of Prisons.

Mr Morel has served 42 years in the public service with a career in the Fire and Rescue Services, where he was promoted throughout his service. Mr Morel served as the Chief Fire Officer of the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services.

Mrs Port-Louis started her career at the Meteorological Services, and joined the Department of Information and Communication Technology 4 years later. Mrs Port-Louis has served for 40 years in the public service and was most recently serving as Director of Software Development.
