President Danny Faure has today announced the composition of the Board of the National Council for the Elderly.
The Chairperson of the Board will be Mrs Jeannine Chung-Faye, and its Vice-Chairperson will be Miss Anne Desir.
The other Members of the Board will be Mrs Bibianne Fred, Mr Justin Meme, Mr Gerard Kiwale, Mrs Betty-May Sofa and Mrs Sophia Rosalie.
The functions of the Council are to:
• advise Government on all matters concerning the Elderly;
• register persons wishing to be employed to work as domiciliary care workers;
• develop standards of care with a view to professionalise and maintain a high standard of care and service to the elderly; and to
• monitor, evaluate and regulate domiciliary care being provided.
The appointments will take effect from 23rd August 2018, for a period of three years.
