President Danny Faure visited the SPTC depot this afternoon where fire had broken out earlier. In his tour of the facility and discussions with officers from the various rescue bodies, the President was briefed on the steps taken to control the fire. The real extent of the damage will only be ascertained once detailed assessment of the premises and its equipment is done.

The President thanked officers of the Fire and Rescue Services Agency, the Seychelles Police, the Disaster and Risk Management Department, the Health professionals and paramedics, the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, SEYPEC and the Staff of SPTC for their quick and efficient response that has led to the control of the fire and the protection of neighbouring critical facilities.
