President Faure visits the Seychelles Hospital

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure visited the Seychelles Hospital today as part of a series of visits to institutions.

He was welcomed by the Minister of Health, Mr Jean-Paul Adam; the Principal Secretary for Health, Dr Bernard Valentin and the Special Advisor to the Minister of Health, Dr Loren Reginald.

The President visited staff in different sections of the Ministry, including the Administration block, Maison Hermitage, Blue roof and Red roof building. During his tour, President Faure had the opportunity to view the facilities and interacted with the staff who were able to share their concerns with him.

Following his tour of the different sections, the President had a meeting with the senior staff of the Seychelles Hospital and the Ministry of Health where he conveyed his deep appreciation to those who had been working in the public health service for a long time and thanked them for their devotion and loyalty in this noble vocation.

The President emphasised the importance for society to respect doctors, nurses, and the allied health staff working in the public service. He further pointed out, that government has been putting structures in place, to enable staff to do their work better. As front liners of this integrated health system, the President asked the leaders to continue the good work of managing the system and getting things right.

The President noted that his visit to the different departments has given him a better insight into the problems that the Minister has been putting to his attention and the need for the government to re-prioritise and get the necessary resources and structures in place to support those working on the ground.

In their turn, the staff at the meeting put forward different concerns such as human resource, the importance of prevention and surveillance, budget constraints, specialised trainings, health information system among other issues.
