The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, received brothers Bertrand and Damien Payet following their participation in the first ever FINA/HOSA Open Water Marathon Swim World Series 2018 held in Seychelles on Sunday.
The meeting was an opportunity for the President to personally convey his congratulations to the two swimmers for their achievements and for making Seychelles proud by finishing the 10km within the time limit amongst many world’s best swimmers.
“As young Seychellois you have a bright future ahead. Today, on behalf of the Government and people of Seychelles, I would like to convey our appreciation to you for your hard work and discipline. I urge you to continue striving for the best, become role models for others, and remain an inspiration for other young Seychellois of your age to follow in your footsteps” said President Faure.
During the meeting, Bertrand and Damien briefed the President on their weekly training routine and also how they balance their passion for swimming with studies. Bertrand is 16 years of age and Damien is 14 years of age. They both shared with President Faure their intense preparations to ensure they improved their time following their first participation in the FINA/HOSA Open Water Marathon Swim World Series which was held in Doha, in March this year.
Also present for the meeting at State House were the parents and younger brother of Bertrand and Damien, their French swimming coach, Mr Guillaume Bachman, and the Chairperson of the Seychelles Swimming Association, Mr David Vidot.
