President James Michel received the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, at State House today.

The President welcomed Mrs. Tetteh on her first visit to Seychelles and expressed the hope that it would contribute to elevating the relations of cooperation between Seychelles and Ghana.

During their meeting President Michel and Mrs. Tetteh discussed various areas of cooperation that could be further developed. These include the commercial cooperation between the two countries in the tuna fisheries products, enhancing the historical and cultural ties, cooperation in tourism, the Judiciary, education, in the protection of the marine resources as well as the development of the Blue Economy.

Speaking to the national press after the meeting, Mrs. Tetteh said that in view of Ghana’s significant coastline and the importance of the fishing industry, the protection of marine resources remained a priority for her Government.

The Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the hope that, building on the momentum of her visit here, Seychelles and Ghana would be able to concretise a number of specific projects and initiatives that would help in strengthening bilateral relations for the benefit of their respective citizens under the auspices of inter-African integration.
