The Vice President, Mr. Danny Faure is on overseas mission in France for a milestone event in the development of the Submarine Optic Fibre Cable System Project also known as the Seychelles East Africa System (SEAS).

The manufacturing of the cable by the Alcatel-Lucent, an international France-based company, has been completed and the Vice President is in the port of Calais to witness the cable being loaded on the vessel, Ile de la Seine en route for Seychelles.

Also present in Calais are the financial partners for the SEAS project, the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Europe Investment Bank (EIB), as well as the two other shareholders, Cable & Wireless and Airtel.

The Submarine Cable will come into operation in mid 2012.
