Striving for our Seychelles, the national theme of 2012 announced by President James A Michel, was launched during a ceremony on Friday evening at the international conference centre (ICCS).

President Michel attended the event.

As he launched the theme,  Designated Minister Vincent Meriton said we are being called upon to do a little more than usual. He commended those who will be putting in extra effort to build Seychelles. He decried those who defeat such efforts with negative inputs like drugs "which destroy our youth and families".

Mr Meriton, the  chairman of the theme committee and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, talked of the importance of linking the theme to not only economic aspects but also other related issues like social renaissance and spirituality. He underscored the need for honesty, compassion for one another and love for our country.
