On the occasion of the 100th anniversary on 8th January of the founding of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), President James A Michel sent heartfelt congratulations of the people and government of Seychelles to President Jacob Zuma.
Seychelles was represented at the celebrations in Bloemfontein by Vice-President Danny Faure. He was accompanied by high commissioner Joseph Nourice.
The centenary celebrations marked a victory for the whole of Africa, President Michel told President Zuma.
"On this 100th anniversary, the new South Africa offers a vibrant and dynamic tapestry of opportunities to a new generation -- a generation which has been liberated by the struggle of their forebears," said President Michel in the message.
He added that the people of Seychelles were proud to have been by the side of Africa's oldest liberation movement during its struggle and that the leadership and freedom of the ANC would no doubt continue serving as inspiration for liberation against oppression, in whatever form it may take.
